Can Jamie Shackleton be Leeds United’s next £30m-valued man?

This week Leeds United sent a firm message to Aston Villa regarding any interest in their midfield general Kalvin Phillips.

Leeds are demanding £30 million for their star man.

that Aston Villa were hoping to do a deal for £14 million for the player, so it seems Leeds have no plans to sell Phillips this summer.

The rise of Phillips to such a high valuation should now act as inspiration for current Leeds youngsters hoping to one day emulate the 23-year-old.

Perhaps the most likely candidate is Jamie Shackleton.

With Jack Clarke looking like being on his way to Tottenham Hotspur, Shackleton is likely to be the star youngster at Leeds next season. Some fans would argue that, even if Clarke remained, that would be the case.

Shackleton has all the potential to be a future Leeds United star. Despite playing at right-back during tough times last season it is in central midfield where the 19-year-old dynamo can truly flourish.

With boundless energy and excellent technique, Shackleton should thrive in a Marcelo Bielsa midfield. His performance in the play-off semi-final first-leg against Derby County highlighted just how impressive he can be when given a chance in his favoured midfield role.

Leeds United fans will be hoping he can one day command a £30 million transfer fee as well.
