Cambridge United fans react as Tottenham Hotspur starlet Jack Roles shines on debut

Jack Roles produced a sublime display on his Football League debut. The Tottenham Hotspur youngster joined Cambridge United on loan until January and wasted no time making an impact.

Roles played 90 minutes as Cambridge extended their unbeaten run and moved into the automatic promotions spots. The U’s recorded a 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United with Roles playing an integral part in their victory.

The 20-year-old midfielder is highly rated by Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham. Roles was given a call-up to the pre-season sessions with the first-team squad to highlight his potential.

But Spurs decided to loan him out for some experience. Shortly after George Marsh and Anthony Georgiou were given loan exits, Roles followed them out the door and moved to Cambridge.

Is he actually a wizard?

He was so impressive that the club’s official Twitter account even asked if he was a wizard.

Cambridge will be hoping that Roles can keep up the form he showed on his debut and get even better with regular playing time. His next match will be at home to Oldham Athletic at the weekend. Here are some tweets from Cambridge fans discussing Roles’ debut.
