The Clarets are bracing themselves for interest in James Tarkowski, and are therefore making moves to replace him if he leaves.

Ben Gibson has also been linked with a Turf Moor exit.

Highly rated youngster Tomori is currently in Dublin with Chelsea partaking in pre-season.

Frank Lampard could have a tough decision to make over the 21-year-old, but Everton will be hoping not to see a £15 million transfer sanctioned.

TBR’s view

Should Chelsea allow Tomori to leave the club, it would surely mean the Blues are less likely to allow Zouma to depart.

The club are very keen to sign the French defender permanently this summer after a fine loan stint in 2018/19, but Chelsea’s transfer ban complicates matters.

They have to be careful about who they let go, knowing replacements cannot be signed.

Tomori leaving would suggest that the club are ready to thrust Zouma back into the first-team picture, which would be a big blow for the Toffees.
