Bundesliga expert tells Tottenham what they can expect from Mathys Tel after he signs from Bayern Munich
Tottenham Hotspur arguably had the most exciting deadline day of any Premier League side, landing the signing of Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel on loan.
Tel has joined Tottenham with an option to buy included in hi✱s deal, even if the Frenchm𒉰an could ultimately decide against the move on a personal level.
Spurs wanted👍 to reinforce Ange Postecoglou’s squad and they have done, even if many in N17 would have liked one more centre-back through the door.
Kevin Danso arrived at the club on Sunday but Tottenham have now lost Radu Dragusin to injury.
In addition, Spurs are assessing Micky van de Ven ahead of facing Liverpool in the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final🗹 on Thursday.
Mathys Tel arrives at Tottenham with ‘rough edges’ and a lot of potential
Back to the positive news, Bundesliga expert Kevin Hatchard provided a summary of what Tel can bring to Tottenham🐲 on talkSPORT, also explaining why he’s decided to leave Bayern th🌃is month.
Hatchard said that Tel had someജ ‘rough e𝓡dges’ but ultimately thought the 19-year-old was a superb addition.
Speaking at length, he said🌳: “So the first ♈thing to say is that Mathys Tel is an exciting player, there’s no doubt about that.
“I mean this is Bayern’s youngest ever scorer and wheꦛn he came to the club he made a♋n impact straight away.

“He is somebody that is quite versatile, he can🌞 play as an inside forward off the left, or he can play as a centre-forward.
“He’s quick, he’s tricky, he is a decent finisher, he’s good in the air – the thing about him is that there are a lot of 🌞rough edges to his game that need smoothing off but he can only do that with game time.
“Now he’s actually had decent game time in th♏e two previous seasons, but since Vincent Kompany went to Bayern, he just ha♏sn’t really had much of a look in.
“I think part of that is because he’s not a winger who likes to hug the touch🌼lin💞e necessarily, in the way that a Kingsley Coman would, or Leroy Sane can do on that right-hand side.
“It’s quite interesting though because Bayern at the start of the window were quite relaxed about this, they were quite happy for him to stay and fight for his plac꧟e, and the feeling was that he wanted to do that too.
“But since the turn of the year, he just hasn’t had that game time, and I think ꦇthat’s convinced him to try his hand elsewhere.”
Ange Postecologu was key to convincing Mathys Tel
Of course, the Bayern striker wasn’t always thought 🍌to be set on a move to N17, he reportedly rejected a permanent move to Spurs in the days prior to deꦿadline day.
Shay Given thought Tel might owe an apol♚ogy to Tottenhaꦚm fans given those circumstanc🥃es, even if he was speaking relatively jovially.
But it seems as if Spurs’ manager was the difference maker – Postecoglou convinced Tel to join.
And it’s therefore interesting♌ to consider whether Tel was given any assurances over Postecoglou sticking around, a manager who is still under pressure.
A fascinating end to the window from a Tottenham perspective, a squad that has been𓂃 somewhat strengthened.
