Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka reveals what he has been doing with Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa in England training at Euro 2024
Bukayo Saka has come out and hailed an Aston Villa player for his incredible defending.
Aston Villa have a number of players plying their trade at the European Championships in Germany this summer.
The Villans have two England internationals at the tournament, too, with one of those particularly impressing Arsenal winger Saka.
Bukayo Saka impressed by Ezri Konsa
The England squad is overflowing with talent with some suggesting it’s a golden generation and part of that group is Villa’s versatile defender Ezri Konsa, who Saka has given a glowing report of.
“Some sessions I do a little one v one with Ezri (Konsa) because, for me, he is one of the best in the Premier League at defending one v ones,” the 22-year-old said, via .
“It improves me and it improves him as well – I enjoy coming up against him.”
Konsa enjoyed a phenomenal season with The Villans last term and his terrific form earned him his first England cap in March – clearly impressing Gareth Southgate enough to include him in the final Euros squad.
Ezri Konsa has a role to play at Euro 2024
Whilst he hasn’t featured at the tournament thus far, he could still have an important role to play off the bench if The Three Lions need to hold out a lead.
If a player as talented as Saka finds it tricky to beat him one-on-one, perhaps he can be utilised in one-off games against jet-heeled wingers.
At left-back, England lack a player of his profile that specialises in that scenario, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see him start later in the competition.
Southgate’s side face Slovenia in the final group game this evening, with qualification to the knockout stages already secured.
