Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon absolutely loved £25m Newcastle player’s display vs Arsenal

Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon have both sent messages to Newcastle United’s Joe Willock on Instagram after yesterday’s win.

Newcastle picked up a statement 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday evening thanks to Anthony Gordon’s second-half effort.

The Magpies were fully deserving of the three points as they stifled Arsenal’s attacking threat, despite the controversy surrounding Gordon’s goal.

One man who played a key role in Newcastle’s winner was Joe Willock – who started his first Premier League game of the season after returning from a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old kept the ball alive after Jacob Murphy’s initial effort looked set to go out for a throw-in before delivering a brilliant ball into the box.

Gordon finished the move after Joelinton challenged Gabriel Magalhaes in the air. And despite the former Everton star grabbing the headlines, Willock impressed once again after a brilliant display at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Now, Bruno Guimaraes and Gordon have both taken to to praise the midfielder.

Willock took to social media on Sunday evening to express his delight after picking up three points against his former side.

Willock completed a switch to Tyneside from Arsenal back in the summer of 2021.

The Englishman enjoyed an exceptional campaign last time out as he helped the Magpies qualify for the Champions League.

He’s been a big miss for Eddie Howe during the early stages of the season as he was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

But the midfielder has made a big impact on his return to action and it’s come at the perfect time after Sandro Tonali’s ban.
