‘Bring him to Arsenal’, ‘no excuses’: Some fans now want 22-year-old who’s ‘far better than Buendia’

Arsenal appear to have lost out to Aston Villa in the race for Emiliano Buendia.

The Norwich ace is a player of the highest calibre who looks destined for a career at the top.

Buendia’s 14 goals and 17 assists last season helped the Canaries back into the Premier League at the first attempt.

On Friday, cited one source claiming Arsenal tabled a £30million offer for Buendia, which Norwich rejected.

As a result, the Gunners upped the bid by £5million, according to the outlet.

Now, numerous outlets are reporting that Villa have won the race for Buendia.

claims Villa will pay a club-record fee for the 24-year-old, reported to be £35million.

The relevant parties will complete formalities in the next 72 hours, added the report.

A number of Arsenal fans have now turned their attentions back to reported long-time target Houssem Aouar.

The Gunners have been linked with the Lyon midfielder since last year.

In September, even claimed that Arsenal were frontrunners for his signature.

Aouar, who is contracted to Lyon until 2023, has made 33 appearances for his club this season, registering eight goals and four assists.

Overall, the 22-year-old has made 170 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, with 32 goals and 31 assists under his belt.

Now that Buendia is all-but out of Arsenal’s reach, some Gooners are eager for the board to quickly turn to Aouar.

“Incredible”

Two-and-a-half years ago, Pep Guardiola had some kind words for Aouar.

He spoke after Manchester City drew 2-2 in Lyon to secure their place in the Champions League last 16.

“Houssem Aouar is a very good player,” Guardiola told . “He is incredible.

“We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent.

“He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”
