‘Brilliant’ striker Tottenham could have signed for £17m now has better goal ratio than Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur and Ange Postecoglou certainly made a bold decision when replacing Harry Kane’s goals this season.
It feels as if the majority of clubs would have been immediately searching for a striker with a similar record to Kane, a player who could make an immediate impact.

Harping back to the summer and the likes of Randal Kolo Muani were heavily linked, before he joined Paris Saint-Germain.
Instead, Postecoglou made the wise decision to disperse the responsibility among players Tottenham already owned, forwards who weren’t scoring enough.
And to his delight, the likes of Son Heung-min and Richarlison have really stepped up to that challenge.
However, the temptation to buy a striker in January must have still existed, especially with Son heading to the Asian Cup.
But as was the case in the summer, Spurs held firm, and perhaps will instead address the situation with more time after the season.
That being said, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy looked like an excellent quick fix in January.
Tottenham were linked with the striker, who has been scoring for fun in the Bundesliga.
Serhou Guirassy now has more goals per 90 than former Tottenham star Harry Kane
Only Daniel Levy and his team will know how tempting Guirassy’s proved, but a move ultimately didn’t materialise.
Perhaps Guirassy’s trip to AFCON with Guinea put sides off of a deal this month, given he’d still only just be returning.

But judging by some data have just shared on X, those same clubs might live to regret that decision.
According to these non-penalty goals per 90 statistics, Guirassy is one of the only players in Europe with a better goal ratio than former Tottenham star Harry Kane.
Guirassy is averaging 1.20 goals per 90, whereas Harry Kane is slightly below at 1.08.
Both are incredible numbers, and Guirassy’s figure certainly delineates why Stuttgart may have been surprised to keep hold of the ‘brilliant‘ striker this month.
That being said, goals haven’t really proved to be an issue for Spurs over the past month or so.
In fact, they are now seemingly starting to experience a problem with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
