‘Brilliant’: Some fans praise Middlesbrough ace who gave Leeds United man ‘the runaround countless times’
Following their 1-0 Championship defeat to Leeds United on Wednesday, some Middlesbrough fans have praised Hayden Coulson’s display in the game.
Marcelo Bielsa’s charges made the trip to the Riverside and claimed their third 1-0 win in a row, pushing Jonathan Woodgate’s side closer towards the relegation zone.
Boro began well against the Whites but didn’t take their chances and were caught out just before the break by Mateusz Klich’s fine finish.
The hosts were far from downtrodden in the second half and worked hard to try to claim a result, but they ultimately fell short as Leeds brought three points back to Elland Road.
Coulson was one of three changes made by Woodgate from their weekend game along with Adam Clayton and Marcus Tavernier, who came in for Marvin Johnson, Ravel Morrison and Britt Assombalonga.
The 21-year-old played as an attacking midfielder and was one of Boro’s better players on the night, playing with zest and purpose, and even got the better of Luke Ayling with an audacious nutmeg.

Was always going to be tough tonight, but again our own mistakes cost us. Going forward the team have no confidence, and as for doing the basics like passing the ball ahead of the receiving player, it seems to amaze me what they work on in training. Coulson MOTM for me.
