‘Brilliant’: Jamie Redknapp is really impressed with one Tottenham signing, says he’s a master at beating players

that he is really impressed with Tottenham Hotspur new-boy Ivan Perisic.

Perisic completed a switch to Spurs earlier in the summer window after leaving Inter Milan on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old earned his first start under Antonio Conte at Tottenham against Wolves last weekend and got an assist.

The Croatia international has played under Conte at Inter and was handed his second start for Spurs today against Nottingham Forest.

And Redknapp feels that Perisic will become a brilliant signing for the North London club.

Redknapp really impressed with Perisic

and said Perisic has mastered beating opponents in one-on-one situations.

“He’s always caught my eye, when he came onto the scene in Croatia,” Redknapp said.

“He’s always been a brilliant player and Croatia have produced so many good players in the past.

“He plays on that left-hand side, obviously the manager knows him extremely well. He loves a step-over, he faces people up one-on-one. He’s mastered that technique of going past people. Against Neco Williams, it’s going to be a really good match-up down that side.

“A good signing. They’ve made really good signings this summer, Tottenham and I certainly feel he’s one of them. A free transfer that adds so much to the team. Brilliant player.“

Perisic started brightly against Forest today as he caused some problems down the left-hand side.

But Spurs were underwhelming in the first-half and were fortunate to go into the break 1-0 up.

The Croatian struggled to make an impact in the second-half but did put a brilliant ball into the box for Kane, which led to a penalty being awarded.

Perisic may have not enjoyed his best day against Forest today but he will undoubtedly improve in a Spurs shirt.

The former Inter man has only just come back from an injury he suffered at the end of last season and will be aiming to get back to his best in the coming weeks.
