‘Brilliant’, ‘great’: Chris Sutton hails two Celtic players, one had his ‘best game’ for Hoops last night
Celtic icon Chris Sutton has praised Hoops duo Mohamed Elyounoussi and Scott Bain for their displays in last night’s Europa League game.
The Norwegian winger was in great form against Lille, putting a chance on a plate for Albian Ajeti before scoring two superb goals to put the Bhoys two up in the first half.
Bain, meanwhile, expertly kept out Jonathan David’s penalty, made other great saves during the game, and wasn’t particularly at fault for any of Lille’s goals.
Sutton hailed the Scottish goalkeeper’s spot-kick heroics and his outfield teammate’s finishes after the first half:
Brilliant first half from Celtic 2-0 up in Lille… Elyounoussi 2 brilliant finishes. Bain great penalty save. 2nd half coming up live on BT Sport⚽️

Although the Hoops blew their two-goal lead for a final score of 2-2, Sutton was still pleased to see Lennon had his “team back” and once again praised Elyounoussi for his display:
Mixed emotions for Celtic after letting a two goal lead slip. Bottom line is Neil Lennon looked like he had his Celtic team back tonight. Brave, gutsy, yes mistakes still being made but Celtic can be proud of that performance tonight… Elyounoussi best game in a Celtic jersey 🍀

TBR View:
Elyounoussi is already on 16 appearances for the season, having made just 20 throughout the whole of 2019-20 due to injuries, so it’s great to see him kicking on and delivering arguably his best display in the green and white hoops.
It’s also great to see Bain, a player who has struggled for game time and previously came under criticism from sections of the fanbase, also stake a claim for a first-team spot in between the sticks, leaving Neil Lennon with a good selection headache.
