‘Brilliant’… Alan Shearer so impressed with 25-year-old Arsenal player despite Liverpool defeat

Alan Shearer singled out Aaron Ramsdale for praise during Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round defeat to Liverpool today.

Arsenal𝄹 were made to rue missed chances in front of goal as Liverpool struck late to secure a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.

💟The Gunners completely dominated the opening period, with the likes of Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard going close.

Indeed, the latter even rattled the crossbar with one effort but it proved to be yet another frustrating afternoon for Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard named a strong starting XI but did make a couple of surprise changes, with both Reiss Nelson and Aaron Ramsdale getting the nod.

And Ramsdale earned high praise from Alan Shearer🐻 after making a superb save in the latter stages of the game.

Shearer lauds ‘brilliant’ Ramsdale as Liverpool beat Arsenal

𒁏Speaking on ’s coverage of the game, Shearer lauded Ramsdale after the Arsenal goalkeeper denied Luis Diaz.

🔯“It was a beauty, absolutely,” Shearer said. “Down low to his right-hand side. Good flick on from Darwin Nunez and Jota picks it up and it falls kindly to Diaz.

⛎“What a save that is. Great strike as well. I thought it was going in the bottom corner but he’s down so quick.”

🌟He added: “Brilliant save. Not only that but with a strong enough hand to push it out for a corner.”

🉐Much has been made about Ramsdale being dropped for David Raya this term. The 25-year-old was a standout performer for the Gunners last term but has since lost his place in the side to Raya.

🍷On the whole, Ramsdale put in a composed display between the sticks today and that should offer him some encouragement moving forward.

𝄹He looked unfazed by Liverpool’s press with the ball at his feet and made some decent saves when called upon.

ဣSome may question why Ramsdale came off his line as Jakub Kiwior turned the ball into his own net in the 80th minute.

🔥But there was nothing the Englishman could do about Liverpool’s second as Luis Diaz smashed his effort into the top corner.
