‘Brilliant’: Alan Shearer blown away by £65k-a-week Aston Villa ace
Aston Villa wing-back Matty Cash has made it into Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.
The 24-year-old delivered a superb performance for the Villans in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Everton.
As well as helping Villa keep a clean sheet, Cash scored his first goal in claret-and-blue.

The ace cut inside on his weaker foot and rifled past Asmir Begovic to open the scoring at Villa Park.
Cash’s heroics saw him named in Shearer’s TOTW, the only Villa player to make the cut.
“Scored a brilliant first goal for the club and played a key part in keeping a clean sheet to end Everton’s unbeaten start,” the Premier League legend.
Cash Aston Villa from Nottingham Forest in October 2020 for a reported £14million initial fee which could rise to £16million.
He has become a regular for Dean Smith’s side since signing a five-year deal at Villa Park.
Cash has started all five of the Villans’ Premier League matches this season.
To date, he has made 33 competitive appearances in claret-and-blue, with two assists as well as one goal under his belt.

According to , Cash could make his international debut for Poland in November.
Cash, whose mother is Polish, has reportedly lodged the necessary paperwork with the international authorities for a Polish passport.
It is understood it could take up to eight weeks for his citizenship to be approved.
This would make it unlikely for him to feature in October’s World Cup qualifiers.
