Brighton open talks to steal £25m signing ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea
TBR Football understands that Brighton & Hove Albion are attempting to pip Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of Brazilian centre-back Vitor Reis.
Arsenal and Chelsea want Reis, but have previously been told that they must wait until after the FIFA Club World Cup this year.
18-year-old Reis is widely considered one of the best young defenders in South America right now.
Premier League clubs have been watching Reis for several months, a centre-back who is already being tipped as a future captain of Brazil.
Brighton make Vitor Reis move before Arsenal and Chelsea
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey now understands that Brighton have opened talks with Palmeiras about a deal, which they believe could be secured for around £25m.
Brighton watched Reis in October, a game that Arsenal and Chelsea scouts were also in attendance to see.

Reis is on the radar of both Premier League giants as well as Real Madrid, but all three have been looking towards him as a potential signing for the summer.
Brighton now see an opportunity to snare Reis and they also believe that the offer of first team from the off would persuade him to move to the AMEX Stadium.
In addition, Brighton are also famed in South America for being an ideal landing spot for the continent’s top talents.
The likes of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister have both secured huge moves off the back of starring for Albion.
And the club also have Julio Enciso who was recruited directly from Paraguayan side Libertad, a player who is beginning to find his feet again after a long-term injury.
Vitor Reis refusing to focus on transfer talk
Following a strong debut season for Palmeiras, Reis recently spoke about his future in an interview with in Brazil.
The defender initially commented on his performances last year, as well any chance of leaving the club before the upcoming Club World Cup, which is held in high regard in Brazil.
Reis said: “I think that for me, individually, it was a very good year, I managed to stand out.
“For our club, for Palmeiras, I think it wasn’t very good, we didn’t manage to win many titles, but I think we need to improve for next year. I want to continue doing what I’m doing, playing well.”
He continued: “I’m focused on Palmeiras now and I’ll leave that to my agent (any offers that arrive).
“I’m going on vacation now with peace of mind and focusing on Palmeiras alone.
“I think it’s a dream for everyone to compete against Messi, Suarez [in the Club World Cup]. So I think we’ll have to work hard to win against them.”
