Brighton now want to sign £29.8m player imminently after Arsenal bid rejected

Arsenal are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window as they look to do business in and out of the door.

Riccardo Calafiori is The Gunners’ only addition so far but they are on the verge of signing Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.

Merino is set to complete a switch to Arsenal this week and whilst that deal’s worked on, Brighton and Hove Albion are trying to wrap up a deal quickly for a player Edu Gaspar bid for earlier in the window.

Brighton want to sign Ferdi Kadioglu imminently

Arsenal bid for Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu earlier in the window but their reported £17m offer was knocked back by the Turkish side.

Now, Brighton have put themselves in pole position to land his signature despite interest from Manchester United, too.

According to , Albion are trying to wrap up a deal very quickly and plan to make official contact with Fenerbahce this week.

They’re hopeful of completing a £29.8m deal, though, it’s claimed they may have to up that to £34m.

Arsenal appear to have completely cooled their interest as they opted to sign Calafiori instead.

Arsenal still need a striker

Arsenal are still missing a specialist number nine and although Arteta is evidently happy with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in that role, they should remain alert for any market opportunities that pop up.

Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran is certainly someone The Gunners must consider as he’s up for sale for around £40m, despite netting against West Ham United on the weekend.

Victor Gyokeres has been on their radar for most of the summer but he’s expected to cost north of £50m.
