Brentford boss Thomas Frank says £34m player Arsenal just made contact to sign is ‘really good’
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has now heaped praise on a player Arsenal are trying to sign – amid reports.
The Dane – who is working as a pundit for the BBC at UEFA EURO 2024 – was covering the Group E clash between Romania and Ukraine on Monday, where he made the comments.
So, what did Thomas Frank say about a transfer target for Arsenal? Let’s take a look…
Thomas Frank praises Artem Dovbyk
A story from Rudy Galetti recently revealed that Arsenal have made contact with Girona to enquire about Artem Dovbyk after his outstanding 2023/24 campaign.
The Ukraine international scored 25 goals and also provided ten assists in 41 appearances last season as Girona finished third in La Liga – form which has seemingly made Mikel Arteta and Edu take notice.
Speaking about Dovbyk before his UEFA EURO 2024 campaign got underway against Romania on Monday, Frank said: “There is a lot of clubs looking at him, no doubt of that. I could see him in the Premier League in the future. I like his left foot, it is really good!”

The Arsenal target unfortunately struggled to showcase his talent in his opening match of Group E as Romania recorded a resounding 3-0 victory, although after such an impressive season with Girona, Slovakia and Belgium best watch out in the other Group E clashes.
Arsenal can sign Ukraine international for relatively modest fee
After registering 35 goal involvements in 41 games last season, Girona would be entitled to demand a substantial amount of cash for Dovbyk – although that is not possible.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the 26-year-old has a fixed €40m (£34m) release clause written into his contract with the Spanish outfit, which is a very tempting figure given his age and the remarkable season he’s just had.

If a move for Dovbyk fails, Arsenal are also said to be considering a swoop to sign Bologna No.9 Joshua Zirkzee – another striker with a £34m release clause in his contract, coincidentally.
