Brennan Johnson reacts with two words after Djed Spence returns to Tottenham training

Tottenham Hotspur’s preparations for the 2024/25 season are officially underway and Ange Postecoglou faces a decisive summer ahead.

New boys Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have already been spotted in training after completing moves to north London.

Ange Postecoglou will also have to make decisions on a host of players’ futures, including returning loanee Djed Spence.

The full-back spent the last campaign out on loan at Leeds United and Genoa, with recent reports claiming Tottenham are set to offer Spence out to other clubs.

It comes after talks between Spurs and Genoa over a permanent switch to Serie A have collapsed.

Despite the uncertainty over his future at Spurs, Spence has returned to first-team training and Brennan Johnson has reacted on social media.

Spence took to and posted a series of pictures of himself on the training pitches at Hotspur Way.

Destiny Udogie was quick to reply as he labelled his Spurs teammate a ‘baller’.

Johnson also left a reply beneath the post as he wrote: “My brother.”

Spence has chance to impress Ange Postecoglou

Despite suggestions that Spence will head out the door this summer, he does have a small window of opportunity to catch the eye in training.

With Emerson Royal also hoping to secure a switch to AC Milan, there could be a spot up for grabs as Pedro Porro’s deputy.

Of course, Gray has also arrived and the youngster is able to operate at right-back. The 18-year-old ultimately kept Spence out of the Leeds side in the position last season.

But Spence will surely be eager to prove a point in pre-season training after failing to impress Postecoglou last summer.

It feels more likely that the 23-year-old will head out the door though, with Spurs bidding to raise funds to bolster Postecoglou’s squad over the coming weeks.
