Brennan Johnson makes exciting Micky van de Ven claim after Tottenham beat Man United 3-0
Brennan Johnson will have certainly enjoyed Tottenham Hotspur’s excellent away win against Manchester United as much as anyone wearing white at Old Trafford.
Johnson has responded to his critics in strong fashion in Tottenham’s last few games, he’s looking as dangerous as he ever has in a Spurs shirt.
The Welshman gave Ange Postecoglou’s side the lead in Manchester courtesy of an incredible Micky van de Ven assist, another ridiculous solo run by the centre-back.
Van de Ven once again proved why he is arguably the first name on the team sheet for Postecoglou, a truly unique talent.
Cristian Romero always performs much better alongside the Dutchman, who is also regularly contributing in attack.
Micky van de Ven told he’s the fastest player in England after Tottenham assist
That being said, after awarding Van de Ven the man of the match award in front of the cameras, Johnson had a few words to say about his teammate and his assist.
Johnson was originally asked about whether he was smiling gleefully even before he had put home the Dutchman’s cross, a jovial moment in the studio after full-time.

Johnson responded: “I think as soon as he started going I just thought, there’s no one faster arguably in the Premier League than Micky when he gets going.
“So I think, I knew he wasn’t going to stop any time soon, as soon as he got to a position where he could cross it I knew I had to be there and once it came to me and I knew I was free I might have smiled a little bit before it went in.
“I just had to be in that position so once I was I was happy to put it in.”
An audacious claim by Johnson, but one that it’s hard to disagree with, at least from the eye test.
Timo Werner wasn’t so composed against Man United
Among the excellent performances for Tottenham, it still transpired to be a frustrating evening for Timo Werner.
The German played on the left-wing in Son Heung-min’s absence, a big opportunity for a winger who’s fallen right down the pecking order.
And whilst Werner was strong in most of his play, the familiar story of his poor finishing was there for all to see at Old Trafford.
Tottenham fans were calling for Micky Moore after Werner missed again one versus one with Andre Onana, a wish that was eventually granted.
But all in all, an excellent night for Spurs who will take a lot of confidence for the challenges to come.
