But Brennan Johnson has made a real impact from the bench in recent weeks, managing four goal contributions in his last five Premier League appearances.
His latest cameo ultimately helped Tottenham secure a vital comeback win over Crystal Palace.

Johnson entered the action with Spurs trailing but he provided two assists en route to a 3-1 victory.
While you’d like to think there is plenty more to come from the youngster after his summer switch from Nottingham Forest, he already leads the way when it comes to offensive duels this term.

According to the statistics site , no winger in the Premier League wins more offensive duels than Johnson.
The Welshman currently wins offensive duels at a rate of 59 per cent.
He also boasts the second-best dribble success rate of any winger in the league. Only Michael Olise, with 69 per cent, has been better in that regard this term.
Johnson has received his fair share if criticism after his switch from the City Ground over the summer.
Much of that has been down to the fact Spurs paid out to land the winger.
But the underlying numbers would suggest there is plenty more to come from Johnson.

The fact that the winger currently boasts the second-best dribble success rate of any winger in the league is also surprising.
Many Spurs fans have grown frustrated with Johnson’s lack of willingness to beat his man. But the numbers would suggest that when he attempts to do just that, he succeeds more often than not.
Yesterday’s display certainly reminded Tottenham fans of what Johnson is capable of.
The winger will undoubtedly be eager to produce these kind of performances more regularly, especially as he now faces a fight to get back into the side.
