Brennan Johnson and Cristian Romero both left amazed by £26m Tottenham player vs Crystal Palace
Brennan Johnson and Cristian Romero have both praised Emerson Royal after Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace yesterday.
Emerson Royal once again stepped in for the injured Pedro Porro at right-back yesterday and put in a solid shift.
It’s fair to say that Royal struggled in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves two weeks ago. But the return of Destiny Udogie allowed the defender to play his more natural game as a full-back against Palace.
And the 25-year-old’s latest display for Tottenham has impressed his teammates Brennan Johnson and Cristian Romero.

Johnson and Romero amazed by Royal as Spurs beat Palace
Royal took to after yesterday’s win to express his delight at picking up a crucial three points on Saturday.
He wrote: “Amazing night today … just this to say.”
Both Romero and Johnson left comments beneath the Brazilian’s social media post.

Royal has proven to be a useful squad player for Postecoglou this season as he filled in across the backline.
While the full-back lacks when it comes to his ability in the final third, he rarely lets Tottenham down defensively.
Spurs received interest in Royal from the Saudi Pro League in January and it’s easy to understand why they kept hold of the £26 million-rated defender. He also boasts a decent understanding with Romero, who operates on the right of Tottenham’s centre-back duo.

Of course, there is a noticeable drop-off when Royal steps in for Porro, particularly as the latter excels while inverting and providing a creative outlet for Spurs.
But Royal can certainly be relied upon and with Udogie back in the side, Postecoglou’s side looked well-balanced defensively yesterday.
It was a crucial win for Tottenham too as it keeps them right in the mix for a top-four finish.
They sit five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, with a game in hand, ahead of next weekend’s trip to Villa Park.
