Brendan Rodgers transfer activity risks damaging the confidence of Mikey Johnston
Celtic are seemingly taking the threat of Rangers very seriously. At least, that is what the club’s transfer activity would suggest. Celtic are finally stocking up in the attacking positions. Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah have both arrived on loan. Meanwhile, Vakoun Issouf Bayo looks set to join the club from Dunajska Streda.
All three arrivals are strikers who can also play out wide. But undoubtedly this is a response to Celtic’s lack of firepower in attack with Leigh Griffiths spending time away from the club and Odsonne Edouard’s recent injury trouble.
However, bringing in three new faces could have a detrimental impact on one of Celtic’s top young talents.

With Edouard and Griffiths absent, Mikey Johnston stepped up. The 19-year-old scored three goals in two games and had Celtic fans very excited in December.
However, he struggled to have an impact in the Old Firm derby and Celtic certainly needed to bring in at least one reinforcement up top.
But three?
Johnston now drops down the pecking order again. Brendan Rodgers is risking damaging the player’s confidence before he has even got started at Parkhead. Johnston is a top talent and Celtic need to ensure they nurture their young talent well, as they are the key to prolonged success.
Hopefully, Johnston can overcome this potential setback and remain in the first-team picture. If not, this episode could be massively detrimental to the teenager’s spirit.
