Branislav Ivanovic says his next club will ‘probably be Everton’

that his next club will “probably be Everton” after he became a free agent following the end of his contract at Zenit St. Petersburg.

Ivanovic, 36, joined Zenit from Chelsea in the 2017 January window and has since clocked up 125 appearances in all competitions for the Russian champions. He helped Zenit win the league twice in the last two years.

Zenit also did the double last season, winning the Russian Cup, too. However, the 105-time Serbia international has now left Zenit and has a decision to make. He has been strongly linked with Red Star Belgrade.

According to Serbian newspaper , Everton are also interested and Ivanovic has now confirmed that he has received a “good offer” from Everton – and will “probably” continue his career at Goodison Park.

“So far, I have not received any offer from Red Star,” . “I will probably continue my career at Everton, I received a good offer from them. I will see how things will turn out.”

TBR’s view – Ivanovic reunion could be ideal for Everton

The Toffees need additions at centre-back, where Ivanovic has been playing for Zenit – instead of the bombing right-back he was at Chelsea, in which he played under Carlo Ancelotti.

Just Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate are options at centre-back and all three have had dips in form. The Toffees need a leader at centre-back and although Ivanovic is now 36, he could be ideal.
