Marcel Brands, the sporting director of Everton, was quizzed about rumours linking the Toffees with a move for Dinamo Moscow teenager Arsen Zakharyan.

revealed earlier this month that a whole host of clubs across Europe are interested in signing the talented teenager, who has directly been involved in 10 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions this season.

Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly leading the race for his signature, but Everton are said to be among many other clubs really interested in young Zakharyan.

Brands, who handles all transfers at Everton, was asked about the rumours.

Rafa Benitez’s Toffees started off the season in fantastic style in the Premier League. They lost just one of their first seven fixtures, but since then, they are winless, losing five out of the six games that they’ve played.

Injuries have caused a lot of problems for the Toffees, which is why many fans are looking forward to the January transfer window. Zakharyan was an exciting young player to be linked with, but Brands has ended all speculation with a three-word response.

“This is nonsense,” said the Everton sporting director to .

The new Griezmann?

Zakharyan is a hugely talented player who is impressing everyone in Russia despite only being 18 years old. Three goals and seven assists in 15 games is a fantastic return for someone of his age, especially considering that he has played in three different positions.

Vladimir Korolyov, a former coach of Zakharyan at Krylia Sovetov Samara, has even compared him to Atletico Madrid and France superstar Antoine Griezmann, which is not a bad compliment at all. ()

An exciting talent like Zakharyan could end up in the Premier League in one of the next two transfer windows, but if Brands’ words are anything to go by, he won’t be coming to Goodison Park.
