Boyhood Aston Villa fan Dean Smith would be perfect appointment

Dean Smith is the early frontrunner to be appointed as Steve Bruce’s successor at Aston Villa, according to .

He is the favourite in the market at the time of writing ahead of the likes of Paulo Fonseca, Thierry Henry and Brendan Rodgers.

It is early days in the search for a new manager at Villa Park, but it is easy to see why Smith is being linked to the post. He has a lot of Championship experience, which other managers on the list are lacking.

His Brentford team are considered as one of the best teams to watch in the division. They are currently 6th in the table, despite having a lower budget than many other clubs in the league.

Smith is a boyhood Aston Villa fan. That coupled with his Championship experience and success with Brentford makes him an outstanding candidate for the role. He could be the perfect man to reconnect the club with the fan-base again.

Although it would be a step-up to manage a much bigger club, Smith has earned this opportunity. It would be difficult for him to turn down, despite his current position with Brentford.

There are bigger names being linked to the post, but Smith would be a great appointment.
