‘Both possibilities’: Marsch says there’s two Leeds players he could start for the first time tonight

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has provided an update on the fitness of Adam Forshaw and Diego Llorente.

The Whites take on Aston Villa in Thursday’s Premier League meeting at Elland Road.

Leeds are in dire need of a win following a dismal run of form without a victory since mid-January.

Since the 3-2 win against West Ham, the Whites have lost six and drawn one of their games.

Leeds have also suffered some particularly heavy losses in that time, including a 6-0 hammering by Liverpool.

This culminated in the Elland Road hierarchy sacking Marcelo Bielsa and bringing in Marsch.

Leeds now have 11 games to save themselves from relegation.

However, it looks as though they’ve received a number of fitness boosts, which bodes well for their battle.

After the loss to Leicester, Marsch Forshaw “wasn’t able to train throughout the week”.

The 30-year-old had to make do with a place on the bench, opting for Robin Koch and Mateusz Klich in the middle.

Meanwhile, Llorente missed out on last week’s matchday squad after Marsch his availability was “questionable”.

On Wednesday, speaking to ahead of the Villa clash, the 48-year-old had some good news on both players.

“They’re both possibilities from the start and certainly close to 100 percent,” he said about Forshaw and Llorente.

“Forshaw told me he hasn’t felt this good in weeks. Diego has been in full training today.”

Marsch also said Patrick Bamford was likely to feature, though the striker would begin the game on the bench.

However, Tyler Roberts is set to miss the rest of the season following surgery, Marsch estimating his return to be three to four months from now.
