Bordalas issues verdict on Bryan Gil as Tottenham loanee makes league debut

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Bryan Gil following his latest display, while he claimed that he has adapted phenomenally well following his move to the Mestalla.

Gil made his debut for Los Che in the Copa del Rey in midweek, getting through 90 minutes in a 2-1 win against Cadiz.

The 20-year-old is yet to make his full Premier League debut for Spurs. But he has had to wait less than a week for that first top-flight start for his new club.

It proved to be an underwhelming occasion for Los Che. They drew 0-0 with Real Sociedad, missing the opportunity to move into the top-half of the table. A victory would have also seen them move to within touching distance of the European places.

But one player who has been praised following the stalemate is Gil. Bordalas claimed that he was delighted with the winger’s performance, as well as his impact since his deadline day move.

“Today he has made a tremendous deployment again,” he said, .

“He has come with a great commitment and we are all very happy. He has adapted phenomenally well to the team and teammates. We are happy with the performance. Bryan has had a very clear opportunity, a shame not having scored a goal.”

Bryan Gil impressing out on loan could leave Tottenham with several options heading into the summer

The jury is still out on Gil at Tottenham. He has looked bright in several of his cameos. But it is somewhat ominous that he has not had more of a chance to impress.

It was claimed this week that Sevilla nearly sold Gil to a club in Italy for £5 million before Tottenham came calling and offered £21 million with Erik Lamela going in the opposite direction.

But he is a Spain international. And he has shown glimpses of his potential in a Spurs shirt.

His bright start at Valencia is encouraging. It could leave Tottenham with plenty of options in the summer when it comes to Gil’s future.

There could be interest in a permanent deal if Antonio Conte is still not convinced. But Gil could just as easily return to Tottenham with fresh confidence, ready to prove himself.
