Bolasie’s inconsistent Aston Villa spell is unlikely to earn him Everton reprieve

Yannick Bolasie has terminated his loan spell with Aston Villa to return to Everton, .

, adding that the player had exercised a clause in his loan agreement.

, Bolasie wants to return to Everton and wrestle back his place in the team.

But given his inconsistent performances for Aston Villa, his chances of earning a reprieve under Marco Silva are surely unlikely.

Bolasie showed glimpses of the exciting talent that he possesses during his loan stay in the Championship.

In 21 Championship matches, the DR Congo international scored twice and provided four assists, although fitness concerns meant that most of his outings were off the bench.

Aston Villa fans criticised Bolasie for his erratic performance in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Hull City.

It is clear that the 29-year-old is not quite the same player he was when Everton splashed £25m [] on the ex-Crystal Palace wide man.

But nonetheless, Bolasie still wants to test himself at the highest level and has decided to leave Aston Villa.

Everton have a vacancy on the wing if Bolasie can somehow rediscover his touch, but his half-season loan spell at Aston Villa suggests he is a shadow of his former self.

And Bolasie’s future at Everton will be in major doubt if he fails to impress Silva.
