Bobby Zamora picks the manager he would have at Tottenham, out of contract in June

that if he was in charge of picking Jose Mourinho’s replacement at Tottenham Hotspur then he would look no further than Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa – after the Argentine guided Leeds to a 3-1 win over Spurs.

Goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo Moreno saw Leeds cause a bit of an upset at Elland Road, denying interim manager Ryan Mason a third win from three Premier League games. It has ended Tottenham’s top-four hopes.

Talk continues to rumble on over who will replace Mourinho permanently at Spurs, with Mason expected to revert into a coaching role within the club at the end of his interim spell in charge. Of course, the 29-year-old is in with a shout of the job.

But ex-Spurs striker Zamora has picked the man he would have if he was given the task of appointing a new manager, and he thinks Leeds boss Bielsa is the ideal addition – stating that the Tottenham fans would love his style of play.

“Looking at what Leeds have done, and it depends on the budget that Spurs want to spend this summer – Bielsa this season, over the last couple of seasons, his track record, why wouldn’t you go and get him?” Zamora asked.

“The fans would love to see that attacking style of football. They’d love to see his passion. He’s produced the goods at Leeds, who don’t have the quality of Spurs – but they have the organisation and work rate instilled into them by Bielsa.

“I think he’s a fantastic manager, if they should go and get somebody, they shouldn’t look much further than him.”

TBR’s view – Bielsa does not look as though he will leave Leeds

While Bielsa’s £115k-a-week () contract will end in June, the Argentine has become renowned for working in a way that sees him extend his contract every summer by a further 12 months. If he is happy and sees progression, he will remain.

That does not stop pundits and reporters suggesting he will and could leave. Bielsa has said in press conferences that he is happy at Leeds, that he will sign a new deal if needed right now, and sees himself staying for the rest of his managerial career.

Could Tottenham tempt him? Perhaps, but the chance to take Leeds to Europe would surely convince Bielsa to remain.
