Bobby Zamora picks his ‘favourites’ for PL title, between Tottenham and Liverpool
that Tottenham Hotspur are his “favourites” to win the Premier League title this season ahead of Liverpool – but thinks Jurgen Klopp’s side will come roaring back if they get some better luck with injuries.
Spurs remain top despite dropping points against Crystal Palace on Sunday, drawing 1-1 with the Eagles at Selhurst Park. Liverpool also failed to win, with Fulham holding Klopp’s men to a point. The Reds continue to suffer multiple injury problems.
Diogo Jota is the latest blow, picking up a knee injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until February. He joins Thiago, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and others on the treatment table – though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in training.
Ex-Tottenham striker Zamora has responded when asked who are his favourites to win the title and back his old team to do it – given their squad depth and the presence of Jose Mourinho. But he thinks Liverpool still have a very good chance.

“It has certainly been flipped on its head this season,” . “It will come down to the manager who can rotate his side the best. Who do I see winning? I think Spurs might just have enough, Mourinho and his experience.
“The way they’re playing, Son and Kane. Mourinho has the ability to keep the fire going inside those players. I see Tottenham winning, they’re my favourites. But if Liverpool can get their squad back, they will run them to the end.”
TBR’s view – Tottenham must keep players fit and firing
Mourinho can deal with half of that. His experiences of title fights and keeping the momentum going will help the Spurs players remain focused and in with a chance of winning the Premier League title – though there is a long way to go.
It must be remembered that while we are approaching Christmas, only 12 games have been played out of 38. Less than a third has been played but Mourinho will keep his players hungry. Can he keep them fit? That is the big question mark.
