Blackburn Rovers fans react as club reportedly in talks to sign Lewis Holtby
Lewis Holtby could make a surprise return to England after his contract at Hamburger SV expired earlier this summer and he is reportedly said to be in talks to sign for Blackburn Rovers – and the Championship club’s fans are going into meltdown.
that Holtby, 29, is in talks to move to Ewood Park. Holtby opted not to stay with Hamburg after the German side failed to gain promotion, following their relegation in 2018 from the Bundesliga.
Not only is Holtby’s name recognisable because he is a fully-fledged Germany international, but because the midfielder played in England for a large chunk of his career for Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham.

Holtby joined Tottenham for a bargain £1.5million fee, after Spurs had originally agreed to sign the German on a Bosman move from Schalke. Later on in the German window, they agreed a fee to sign the midfielder instantly.
He played 42 times for Spurs, scoring three goals but perhaps more impressively, laying on eight assists – despite only starting 19 of those outings. He went on loan to Fulham during the second half of the 2013-14 season, managing 13 outings.
Now, without a club, Holtby is on the lookout and it appears he could be about to join Blackburn on a free transfer – which would surely be somewhat of a coup for a second-tier English side to land such a player.
He looked class in spells at spurs if I remember right.
