Birmingham forward Adams is not what Arsenal need to progress under Emery

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Birmingham City hotshot Che Adams in the summer transfer window,

They that the Blues rebuffed £9m interest from Burnley in January as they value their top scorer at double that – £18m – and Southampton are also in the hunt.

But Arsenal watched Adams during Birmingham’s match against Bolton last Tuesday, where he was looking to make it seven straight league games where he found the back of the net.

He failed to make history and do that, and while he has had a fantastic season, and would likely be a good signing for a side lower down the Premier League – he is not what Arsenal need right now.

earlier this month that Unai Emery’s transfer budget for the summer is just £45m, which already does not look adequate for the surgery the current Gunners squad requires.

Further improvement in defence and central midfield is needed and Emery could also do with a pacy winger to spruce up his attack.

But Adams is a pacy striker and Emery is actually well-stocked in that area, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette offering a goal threat – and Arsenal struggle to even fit them into the same team at times.

It would not be the right move for Adams or Arsenal if he came to the Emirates Stadium this summer – the money needs to be focused elsewhere.
