‘Big talent’, ‘future is bright’: Some Rangers fans excited about Ibrox gem with ‘ability in abundance’

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have tipped Ibrox youngster Nathan Patterson for greatness following his positive experience in Steven Gerrard’s squad in their pre-season stint in France.

The 18-year-old Rangers academy right-back enjoyed a bright start to the decade, beginning with his exploits during the winter break training camp in Dubai.

Patterson put in an impressive display for the Ibrox side in the mid-season friendly against Lokomotiv Tashkent, and followed that up with a superb showing against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

The youngster also played a major role in Rangers Colts’ run to the Scottish Challenge Cup semi-finals, captaining Graeme Murty’s charges in the final four, and was in Scottish Premiership matchday squads prior to the league being curtailed.

With preparations for 2020-21 now under way, Steven Gerrard gave Patterson game time in Lyon as Rangers won the pre-season Veolia Trophy, and having impressed in his outings, the youngster spoke of how pleased he is to have featured and picked up experience.

“It has been great,” Patterson told the Rangers . “And I am delighted to be a part of the squad and to train with top, experienced players – it’s just going to make me a better player all-in and put me in good stead for the rest of the season.

“I have been exposed to the first team quite a bit now having trained with them quite a bit last year. So I’m used to it, but it’s a big step-up in terms of physicality and all departments really.”

Patterson’s comments went down a treat with the Rangers fanbase, and some Bears took to social media to praise him:
