£35m Leeds player could leave alongside Gnonto and Summerville if they don’t win promotion

Leeds United are right in the mix to win promotion back to the Premier League this season under Daniel Farke.

The Whites have remarkably hauled in Leicester City to sit top of the Championship with less than 10 games remaining of the season.

For Leeds, winning promotion back to the top flight is key to ensuring they keep their squad together.

Indeed, a number of players have admirers outside of Elland Road.

And according to journalist Dean Jones, signing Georginio Rutter could well be on his way out of Leeds if they do somehow fail to go up.

Rutter to leave Leeds if they aren’t promoted

Speaking to , journalist Jones has said that Rutter could follow the likes of Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville out of Elland Road, with other clubs keen.

“Rutter was a big deal when Leeds signed him, and obviously, he got off to a slow start, but things are going well now. He’s played almost every match for Leeds and will feel a big part of it. He will be motivated to get back to the Premier League, and at the moment, it’s looking like he will be able to achieve that with Leeds, and I think that would be ideal for him,” Jones .

“But if Leeds weren’t promoted, we might see a few clubs looking at him. I’m not saying he would leave, but this is a big moment for Leeds, and failure to get up could lead to the threat of the side falling apart a little. Gnonto and Summerville would likely leave, and I’d throw Rutter in there as someone who would attract interest.”

Leeds in a make or break moment

Leeds’ squad is far too good for the Championship at the moment and if they don’t win promotion, it will be a nightmare for them.

They’ve done brilliantly to get back to the top of the table but as Jones says here, they have some players who would simply be off if they don’t go up.

Rutter has been quite brilliant this season for Leeds. But he is too good to hang around for another season in the second tier and like Gnonto and Summerville, is going to have a lot of interested parties in him.

For Leeds, it’s simply vital they win promotion now. Failure to do so could leave them with a huge rebuild being needed.
