‘Big loss’, ‘Liability’: Some Celtic fans divided as report claims 26-year-old could be leaving
With 139 appearances, 41 goals and six trophies to his name, there is no doubt that Ryan Christie has made a significant contribution at Celtic over the last few years.
This season, however, he has become an increasingly divisive figure.
A perceived tendency to shoot from distance too often has become a stick with which some supporters have beat him, and in a campaign that has seen the majority of Celtic’s squad attract criticism, the 26-year-old certainly hasn’t escaped flak.
The mixed feelings regarding Christie were evident on Sunday, when a report on page 156 of the said that Christie could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club as soon as July.
It had been believed that the Scotland international’s 2018 contract extension ensured he would be a Celtic player until the end of the 2021/22 season, but the report says that it will now end in January 2022 and so he can sign a deal with another club this summer.
These Celtic supporters have mixed feelings on the subject, with some prepared to see Christie leave and others bemoaning the likelihood of there being no transfer fee involved in the deal.
The board shoulda sold all these guys last summer, Christie, Edouard, ntcham etc instead we are gonna lose out on a lot of money needed for the rebuild due to their sheer mismanagement.

I think his best games came from number 10/8 role. Like Armstrong played badly wide
Love to see the stats from wide areas for celtic this season. Usually our Fb averages 10 assists per season

Getting nothing for him would be a big loss for us tbh. Top league assister for us this season despite what people think of him and actually a pretty good player if we can get a coach who can work better choices into him

Lennon turned him into a tactical liability. Forever ending attacks, losing possesion and giving fouls on dangerous areas.

No concerns to Celtic fans cause they’ll no need to worry about dodging fully inflated size 5 Mitres every other week when we’re allowed back in

In his eyes he’s destined for the top, in everybody else’s eyes he couldn’t lace Armstrong’s boots

He has got progressively worse since Rodgers was manager ! I actually don’t think we’d have got much for him anyway! Sadly he is not the same player that broke into the team on cup final day !

Oh, he's kicked far far far too many balls for Celtic this season (and kicked them much too far).
