‘Big impact’… Peter Grant says two Celtic players were absolutely excellent vs Hibs tonight

The interest in Celtic’s fixture against Hibs tonight was given a huge shot in the arm after Brendan Rodgers read his team the riot act after their first-half performance against St Johnstone on Sunday.

With certain players’ displays leaving a lot to be desired, Rodgers rung in the changes tonight and dropped Kyogo Furuhashi, Hyunjun Yang and David Turnbull in favour of Hyeongyu Oh, Mikey Johnston and Tomoki Iwata.

The Furuhashi call was a huge on by the Celtic manager but it paid off as the Korean grabbed two goals in the 4-1 victory at Parkhead.

Out of the three changes, Peter Grant was left seriously impressed with two of them as Celtic cemented their place at the top of the league.

Speaking on , Grant was spoke about Johnston and Oh as both were substituted around the hour mark.

Grant said, “Good performance by Mikey Johnston and, obviously, from [Hyeongyu] Oh. The two of them carried on from the weekend and had a big impact on the game.”

It really was a polished performance by Celtic tonight and the early goal was deserved. It seemed as though Rodgers’ McDiarmid Park rollicking was still ringing in his team’s ears as they went at Hibs right from the first whistle.

A double from Oh, one from O’Riley and a penalty from Luis Palma sealed the points for Rodgers and a good performance will leave the Celtic manager feeling extremely pleased.

The only blot was failing to keep a clean sheet but Rodgers will be delighted that his team not only got the win but also sealed it with a polished performance against the capital side.

Next up for Celtic is an away day to Kilmarnock where Rodgers will be looking to exact revenge on Derek McInnes’ side for that early League Cup exit at the beginning of the season.
