‘Big gamble’… Harry Redknapp says Arsenal could win the league if they sign ‘extraordinary’ player

Arsenal have been in poor form as of late but they’re still not a million miles off being Premier League title contenders.

Indeed, the Gunners remain just five points off the top of the league and that gap could close to two points if results go their way this weekend.

The north London club do have issues at the moment in terms of scoring goals, but with the January window open, perhaps a new striker could fix those issues.

One player who is said to be on the market right now is Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman is said to be keen to leave Saudi Arabia, and speaking on the , Harry Redknapp has been discussing the idea of the 36-year-old heading to Arsenal.

Redknapp says that Benzema would be a big gamble, but he reckons that he could just be the man to score the goals to take Arsenal to the title.

Benzema could win Arsenal the league

Redknapp shared his verdict on the ‘’ striker.

“Where does he go now Benzema? He’s a gamble, we’ve seen a few come off. It’s short-term. Could you get him to Arsenal until the end of the season? He might come in and get the goals to win the title for them. They’re not far away, could he be the one to make the difference? They have great players to make opportunities for him, it’s a big gamble with massive wages,” Redknapp said.

Been there, done it

Benzema may be 36 years old now, but he’s still a quality player who knows how to navigate these situations.

Benzema has done it all in this game. He’s scored the biggest goals in the biggest competitions year after year for the best part of two decades now, and there’s probably not a striker in world football more equipped to help Arsenal out of their current conundrum.

Of course, the wages would be huge, and, as Redknapp says, this would be a gamble, but we can’t help but think this could be just what the doctor ordered at the Emirates this January.
