Bielik should be given chance at Arsenal following Koscielny fallout

Current Arsenal club captain Laurent Koscielny recently caused a stir by refusing to travel with the club on their pre-season tour of the USA. In an , the Gunners confirmed that Koscielny’s shocking actions went against the club’s “clear instructions”.

The veteran defender clearly wants to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. He to pave the way for him to depart as a free agent.

It now seems Koscielny has refused to travel with Unai Emery’s squad in order to force a move away. He may now get his wish, too. Whilst the French centre-back might have been part of Emery’s plans for the new season, his recent antics could have successfully made his future with the club untenable. If Koscielny’s relationship with Arsenal is beyond repair, then the north London outfit must move him on this summer.

Koscielny may be set to get his own way, but that presents further problems for Arsenal. Emery’s squad was already light at the back. With Koscielny now potentially out of the picture too, his defensive contingent suddenly looks completely threadbare.

To provide extra strength in depth at the back, the Spanish coach should look to Krystian Bielik. The 21-year-old shone last season whilst on loan with Charlton Athletic, and has recently impressed for the Poland under-21s international side.

The young defender has attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs this summer, as reported by . However, there could now be room for him in the Arsenal squad. Koscielny’s seemingly inevitable exit should prompt Emery into taking a chance on Bielik this season.
