Xherdan Shaqiri was at the heart of everything good for Switzerland as they recorded a famous win over Belgium.

Needing to win to progress to the semi-finals, Switzerland found themselves 2-0 down to Belgium in the opening stages of the game.

This left them needing four goals to ensure they headed through as group winners. And they went and scored five.

Liverpool star Shaqiri carried his fine club form into this international clash and was a nightmare for the Belgian defence.

The diminutive midfielder was the creative spark that Switzerland needed to get back into the game.

And he picked up two assists as the Swiss ran out 5-2 winners at home to Belgium.

Shaqiri’s career at Anfield has started brightly and he scored a goal against Fulham just before the international break.

This performance against Belgium surely keeps his confidence high as he aims to break into the Liverpool starting line-up on a regular basis.
