Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Filip Kostic fired Eintracht Frankfurt to glory last night as the German outfit beat Rangers in the Europa League final to lift the prestigious title.

Both Rangers and Frankfurt had an amazing run in the competition this season. They’re both worthy finalists, but only one team could get their hands on the title last night.

Sadly for Gers fans, it was Frankfurt who got the job done, and Kostic was incredible for them.

Tottenham-linked Kostic was brilliant in the Europa League final

It was always going to be a tight game between Rangers and Frankfurt. The two sides could not be separated after 120 minutes of football, but the one player who truly stood out was Kostic.

The 29-year-old Serbian started at left wing-back and he was a constant threat. He had 114 touches of the ball, and attempted 20 crosses and 11 long balls (). He came close to scoring in the first half for Frankfurt, but his shot just missed the target.

Right after Aaron Ramsey missed his penalty in the shootout, the pressure was on Kostic to give his side the lead. He did just that and helped the German outfit win the Europa League.

Charlie Adam, who was commentating on the game for last night, went as far as branding him as ‘the best player on the pitch’. We must say, we fully agree.

Spurs can sign him for just £12m

Just over three weeks ago, reports revealed that Tottenham are really keen to sign Kostic in the summer transfer window. After watching him last night, we understand why.

Antonio Conte’s system heavily relies on wing-backs. Spurs currently have Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon on the left, and although the latter has done really well recently, Tottenham could do with an upgrade.

Kostic, who has scored seven goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions this season, would be a phenomenal player in Conte’s system. He’s excellent in attack and is more than aware of defensive duties as well.

The Serbian will enter the final year of his contract this summer and last month that Frankfurt are willing to sell him for just over £12 million. That would be an absolute bargain for Tottenham.
