‘Best player for me’: Sky pundit says Tottenham have an ‘unsung hero’ who’s outshone Kane
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has named Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur as Spurs’ best player so far this season.
The Tottenham cult hero was speaking about the Uruguay international on the .
While Harry Kane gets most of the plaudits, Bentancur has been an “unsung hero” for Antonio Conte, said Redknapp.

Bentancur has shown incredible quality and consistency in recent weeks, even as the rest of the team blew hot and cold.
The 25-year-old scored crucial goals against Sporting CP and Bournemouth over the past week-and-a-half.
And against Marseille, Bentancur drove Spurs on with his forays up the pitch and his composure with the ball.
Redknapp couldn’t help but sing the January signing’s praises on the Sky Sports Football Podcast.
“I always think about the engine room,” he said.
“Bentancur for Spurs has been their unsung hero.
“Harry Kane gets all of the plaudits, but Bentancur has been the best player for me pound-for-pound.
“He does things in such a quiet way.”

Up for debate
While there’s no doubting Bentancur has been superb, the topic of best Spurs player of the season so far is one for extensive debate.
Kane has already broken the 10-goal mark in the Premier League this term, and has also netted once in the Champions League.
In a way, it’s good that there are several candidates for Tottenham’s player of the season so far – it means there’s a lot of good performers.
