Besiktas President confirms talks with Leicester City over Rachid Ghezzal

Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has confirmed the Turkish giants have opened talks with Leicester City over a permanent transfer for attacker Rachid Ghezzal.

In an interview with Fanatik, the executive claimed that the Istanbul outfit are looking to sign the winger on a permanent deal his summer.

The Algeria international enjoyed a monstrous impact at the Vodafone Arena this season, . His contribution helped the side on their way to lifting the Super Lig title.

However, his future at the King Power Stadium has been called into question over the recent weeks with claims he could join Besiktas on a permanent deal.

When talking about the possibility of signing the French-born Algerian, Cebi said: “I would like to keep this squad together for seasons to come as a president. For both Rachid Ghezzal and Valentin Rosier, we opened talks with their clubs. We are under no pressure, I am very relaxed. I hope both players will be with us for next season./p>

Too many attackers: Ghezzal transfer will create space in bloated Leicester squad

With the current Foxes squad, one thing has become apparent and that’s the incredible number of attackers.

Alongside the first-choice players in Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and James Maddison, there are the likes of Denis Praet, Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes. The size of the squad in attack is bloated and letting the likes of Ghezzal leave is smart business.

His form during this season is a plus for Brendan Rodgers as it ensures the Midlanders get better value for the African.

Money can be reinvested in other areas of the squad like defence, where Jonny Evanslate season injury caused chaos for Leicester in their bid for Champions League football.

Retaining unwanted players in an already saturated side makes zero sense, Ghezzal to Besiktas is a transfer that provides Leicester with great value in the market ahead of a crucial summer.
