Report: Arsenal player now wants to leave after Arteta didn’t pick him to start against Liverpool last night
Arsenal are set to lose goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, during the January transfer window after the German became disillusioned with life at the club under Mikel Arteta.
Reports have claimed that a number of clubs want to take Leno from the Gunners this month, including Newcastle United. There is also interest from Italy, and the German stopper could be open to a move to try and salvage his World Cup squad hopes.
But while the interest in Leno is nothing brand new, have revealed exactly why the stopper wants out. report that Leno has become frustrated with not being selected by Mikel Arteta for the cup games. Normally, Premier League managers rotate their stoppers, at least in the EFL Cup. However, Arteta has stuck with Aaron Ramsdale throughout, as well as in the FA Cup third round.

This is said to have tipped Leno over the edge and he now wants out of the club ASAP. Leno is now said to be actively ‘pushing’ for a move away, per ESPN’s report.
Leno has made 124 appearances for the Gunners since his arrival. He has played a key role for Arsenal in that time, although he did lose his spot himself to Emiliano Martinez in the cup competitions.
TBR’s View: A Matter Of Time For Leno At Arsenal
This was always going to be the case as soon as Aaron Ramsdale dislodged the German. Ramsdale has thrived, although he didn’t cover himself in glory last night.
But he remains number one, while the Gunners also have a number of good young stoppers on the books.
For Leno, it’s now a case of finding somewhere to be number one. Newcastle could be that club, although they also have depth in the goalkeeping department. A move abroad might suit him more, and Arsenal will then have to consider their next move in terms of suitable back up.
