‘Bent owners’: Arsenal fan goes viral with Line of Duty message at Emirates protest
Arsenal fans are interested in one thing, and one thing only.
Dissatisfaction with the club’s owners is nothing new at the Emirates, but the antipathy towards those running the club has become intense since last Sunday’s announcement of plans for a European Super League.
Arsenal were among those who made a humiliating climbdown, but the role of Stan Kroenke in that debacle will not quickly be forgotten by the club’s supporters.
That much was clear on Saturday afternoon, when thousands made their way to the stadium in order to demand the American billionaire and his family leave the club.
The Gunners joined Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the 12 clubs announced on Sunday as part of the plans for a breakaway league, but by Tuesday clubs began pulling out amid a backlash from fans and torrent of negative publicity.
There were numerous eye-catching messages from supporters outside the ground, but one in particular has been earning plaudits on social media.
Cult character Ted Hastings is known for his dogged pursuit of ‘bent coppers’ in BBC drama Line of Duty.
One Arsenal fan held aloft an image of the AC-12 chief referring to “BENT OWNERS”, with featuring the sign being liked over 5,000 times.

The final instalment of Line of Duty’s sixth season airs on BBC One tonight at 9pm.
The drama surrounding Arsenal, meanwhile, shows no sign of ending any time soon.
