Dermot Gallagher thinks Ben White was lucky not to give a penalty away for Harry Kane challenge
Arsenal defender Ben White was lucky to get away with not giving a penalty away for the Gunners yesterday after his late𝔉 tackle on Spurs striker, Harry Kane.
White appeared to catch Kane right on the edge of the area b൲ut no foul was given on the field. VAR did check the call, but didn’t choose to intervene and the Gunners went on to win💃 the game comfortable.

But speaking to earlier today, former PL refer𓆉ee, Dermot Gallagher, believes that White got away with one for his tꦍackle on Kane.
“I think he’s lucky. I think he doesn’t get the ball. Kane gets there quickly and he catches him. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they’d given a penalty there,” Gallagher .
“The VAR thought it didn’t mean the ‘clear and obvious’ error. But I think it’s a tough one for the VAR, because I think if the referee gives a penalty I don’t think he’d go against him either.”
Other than that slight mishap, White had a fine game at the heart of the Arsenal defence. In front of A🐎aron Ramsdale and alongside Gabriel, the Gunners newcomer looked every bit the £50m🐓 player.
TBR’s View: White rides his luck with Kane tackle
Gallagher is right here. If the referee gives it in the first place, then the VAR will not be ♎overturning it e🌼ither.
It really should have been given. But sometimes you ride your l🌃uck in footba🍒ll in big moments and this is what Ben White appeared to do here.
For Spurs, it was just another kick in the you know where on what was a miserable day 𒐪overall for the club♛.
