Ben Parker wants Leeds to be patient with Ryan Edmondson
Ben Parker that Ryan Edmondson has the potential to play for Leeds United’s first-team for a number of years, but insisted that everyone needs to be patient with the striker.
Edmondson appears to be at an intriguing stage of his development. He has been scoring regularly for the under-23s for some time. However, the teenager has not been named in a first-team squad this season – and he has not made an appearance for Marcelo Bielsa’s side since September 2018.

But with the 18-year-old seemingly returning to his best form in recent weeks, some fans would be forgiven for wanting Bielsa to hand Edmondson another chance in the senior side in the near future.
However, Parker insisted that it would be a mistake to rush Edmondson into the first-team. He did suggest that there are extremely high hopes for the teenager at Elland Road.

“It’s always funny. People score in the under-23s and automatically, they’re getting pushed forward. I just think just let him continue doing what he’s doing,” . “Again, great potential. He could play at the club for a number of years. There’s no point rushing these players through, just let them develop at their own rate. There’s one person that’ll know when he’s ready and that’s Bielsa. Let him continue scoring goals.
“I spoke to him yesterday. He was saying he was enjoying working hard, he’s enjoying getting the last couple of goals he’s got for the under-23s.”

It will be interesting to see whether Edmondson’s chance could come in the coming months. that the Whites are preparing in case they lose Eddie Nketiah in January.
Of course, it would be a big surprise if Leeds did not bring in a new signing if Nketiah returned to Arsenal. But it could provide Edmondson with a boost.
And once that chance does come, the youngster may only be a couple of goals away from securing a much more permanent position amongst the first-team.
