Ben Parker reacts to Pablo Hernandez and Tyler Roberts’ Leeds U23 displays

Ben Parker labelled Pablo Hernandez’s performance in Leeds United’s under-23 win over Fulham on Monday a masterclass, while he also lauded Tyler Roberts’s display .

Mark Jackson’s side stormed to an emphatic 7-1 win at Thorp Arch. The Whites named an incredibly strong side, with Helder Costa and Ian Poveda amongst those named alongside Hernandez and Roberts in the starting lineup.

The latter two lasted an hour before being replaced by Joe Gelhardt and Bobby Kamwa. And the pair certainly managed to make an impact.

Roberts scored the opening goal as he headed home Costa’s corner. And Hernandez’s cross would lead to an own goal.

The Spaniard would also get on the scoresheet after the break. His effort found the roof of the net shortly before he was taken off.

And as the pair left the pitch, Parker was full of praise for their contributions.

“Well, Pablo masterclass yet again,” . “But also Tyler Roberts, getting another goal, he’s been prolific when he’s dropped down to the under-23s. And that just gives him a little bit of confidence because going forward, those two are going to be big, big players in the first-team.”

As Parker notes, the games are going to be coming thick and fast for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. So it will be a big boost for the Whites to see Hernandez and Roberts impressing.

Of course, the former provided a reminder of his quality in the first-team’s win over Newcastle last week. He contributed two assists in quick succession after coming off the bench.

And while they both face a tough task trying to force their way into the starting lineup, they have certainly staked a further claim for more game-time on Monday.
