Ben Parker reacts to Ian Poveda’s display in Leeds defeat

Ben Parker that he thought that Ian Poveda’s display provided one positive in Leeds United’s defeat to Leicester City on Monday night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten 4-1 at Elland Road. It proved to be a hugely disappointing night for the Whites, who made a number of defensive errors.

They did improve at the start of the second-half. And there were a couple of moments when Bielsa’s men were given opportunities to set up a completely different game.

Poveda came on after the interval. And Parker felt that he was one of the players who could hold his head up high despite the result.

“I thought Poveda looked bright again when he came on. I like the look of him,” .

“Whether he’s probably done enough to push for a start, I don’t know. It’s difficult because the competition in the wide areas is arguably the strongest point of our team at the moment. But I’d say he was bright.”

If there was one criticism of Poveda’s performance, it was surely his struggle to create anything of note at the end of some of his impressive runs.

He did cause problems. And he has previously shown that he can make a real difference when he comes off the bench. His introduction against Manchester City earlier this term certainly seemed to help Leeds change the game.

And although he was unable to make a similar impact on Monday, there is no question that there will be plenty of times in the future when he does swing the momentum in Leeds’s favour.
