Ben Parker issues warning over Leeds youngster Leif Davis

Ben Parker that he has been really impressed with Leif Davis, but insisted that the Leeds United supporters need to give him time to develop and not expect too much from him too soon.

Davis looks to be one of the most exciting prospects in Marcelo Bielsa’s ranks. And the club have confirmed that they expect the 19-year-old to have a bright future ahead of him by handing him a new contract.

It is easy to forget that the teenager only made his senior debut less than a year ago. And that game against Aston Villa remains his only league start for the Whites. He has since made six Championship appearances from the bench.

And while Parker was full of praise for Davis, he suggested that everyone needs to remember how little he has played before putting too much pressure on his shoulders.

“I just like his energy. He’s a modern day full-back, the way he gets up and down. But he’s only young as well, let him develop,” . “We’ve seen little snippets of him, little cameos. QPR when he came on for the last 10 minutes when he was bombing up and down. Yeah, he was really impressive, but let’s not think he’s our number one left-back, he’s going to be our left-back for the next 10 years.

“Just let him go and do his own thing. You mentioned Alioski and Douglas, two very, very good players there, unfortunately just keep picking up niggly injuries. Between the three of them, I think we’re in very good hands in that position.”

While Leeds fans have not seen a lot of Davis, it is not surprising that they are excited about him. It is telling that Marcelo Bielsa has put so much faith in him.

He has regularly been included in matchday squads. And it looks to be a matter of time before he secures a more prominent role in Leeds’s side.
