Ben Parker calls 27-year-old a ‘massive positive’ after latest Leeds performance

Ben Parker has given a glowing verdict on Leeds United’s Diego Llorente for his performance on the weekend during the loss to Aston Villa.

The Whites suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Elland Road to Villa in the Premier League, with Anwar El Ghazi scoring the winner in the 5th minute.

Parker has picked out Llorente though for his recent display.

The £22,000-a-week () centre-back started his second consecutive game in the league as he builds up fitness and looked solid alongside captain Liam Cooper.

He is a senior Spain international that was making just his fourth Leeds appearance against Villa due to injury problems, but looks as if he could be a key player for them.

“I think Llorente was a massive positive coming away from it. I thought he looked really assured. Some of his passing is really crisp, really precise,”

Llorente, 27, will need a run of games before supporters can fully judge him.

But against Villa he looked physically strong, plus he dealt well with a quality striker in Ollie Watkins.

The centre-half has shown during his brief Leeds career that he’s a ball player that fits the system under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

It’s been extremely disappointing that he’s missed the majority of this campaign since he joined in the summer from Real Sociedad, especially as centre-back teammate Robin Koch has also had injury issues of his own.
