Ben Davies shares what Ange Postecoglou is really like in Tottenham team meetings

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has now been sharing some insight into Ange Postecoglou’s methods behind the scenes.

31-year-old Davies played a significant role in Postecoglou’s first season in north London, perhaps one bigger than he expected.

The Welshman played 19 times across the season, often deputising for Micky van de Ven when he injured his hamstring.

Of course, Davies is also the first-choice back up to Destiny Udogie at left-back, even if he was unfortunately missing through his own injury when the Italian’s season also ended early.

But as of now, with no new left-sided full-back or centre-back recruited this summer, Davies could remain the primary backup in both positions.

That being said, when speaking in a recent interview with , Davies has now been discussing how Postecoglou conducts himself in the club’s team meetings.

Davies suggested that the Spurs boss uses videotape of games to real effect, not to chastise players, rather to point out where they can improve.

Ben Davies says Tottenham players can make mistakes under Ange Postecoglou

Speaking about Postecoglou’s style, Davies stressed that the manager accepts that mistakes happen in all walks of life, and puts greater emphasis on each player’s reaction.

Davies shared: “He has a real effect on the team in the meeting room when he lays out his ideas very clearly and sets his standards.

“There’s no hiding if it’s on the videotape. There’s no harsh judgement or deep criticism, it’s just made very clear what he expects.

“It’s a more corrective style. If you make your mistakes trying to do the right things, that’s completely fine because there’s an acceptance that — just like in real life — mistakes happen.

“He’s more about how you react to them.”

Of course, many Tottenham fans may feel as if Postecoglou’s best efforts may ultimately be in vain this season if the club don’t sufficiently back their manager in the transfer market.

There’s no doubt that Archie Gray is an exceptional signing, a real coup for Johan Lange and his team.

But Spurs’ starting eleven needs reinforcements, players who can raise the level at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And to that end, Tottenham are now favourites to sign one attacker who once angered Cristiano Ronaldo.
